Woodside-Portola Valley Fire Protection Foundation 2023 Appeal

Annual Appeal 2023Support Your Community

Donate Today

Dear Fellow Member of the Woodside-Portola Valley Fire Protection District,

Thank you for your encouragement during this transformational time for our Fire District! Your generous support means the world to our community, ensuring the availability of life-saving equipment and facilities that are essential for our first responders to provide the wide range and high quality of emergency services our community needs to thrive.

In 2022, residents from each of our primary service areas–including Emerald Hills, Ladera, Los Trancos, Portola Valley, Skyline, Vista Verde, and Woodside – collectively contributed funds totaling $279,026. We’re so grateful for the ongoing support from every corner of our community.

Last year, on top of supporting the annual fund, a number of community members made additional stretch gifts in support of our District’s critical facilities improvement projects at Station #8 in Portola Valley and Station #7 in Woodside.

An extraordinary leadership gift of $10 million from the Arrillaga Family and Arrillaga Foundation launched our capital improvements campaign from a position of tremendous strength, inspiring campaign pledges from 100% of our foundation board members and numerous community members who have been actively involved with the District over the years. With these early capital campaign gifts, plus capital improvement funds that had been set aside by the Foundation since 2009, as well as Fire District reserves, we have already reached $25 million towards our $30 million capital improvements campaign goal.

WE NEED YOU to reach our remaining $5 million goal to cover costs associated with our two critical facility projects (Station #7 in Woodside and Station #8 in Portola Valley). We look forward to celebrating the successful completion of construction at both sites, as well as the conclusion of the capital campaign, with you in 2024!

Please consider increasing your support this year to help us reach our goal.

Fire prevention that targets our district’s specific needs. Your donation helps support the annual Chipper Program and related Firewise programs that target wildland fire prevention in addition to residential and commercial fire safety.

Safety and emergency response training by WFPD staff for all residents at a convenient location at reduced cost. Your donation helps fund the purchase of up-to-date instructional materials and training equipment for CPR/ First Aid classes, school safety education programs, and the district’s community emergency response team (CERT) program.

Equipment that enables the most advanced, efficient all-risk emergency response. Your donation helps fund up-to-date equipment for more than 5,500 incidents a year, including medical emergencies, vehicle accidents, fires, hazardous conditions, severe weather, and others.

Thanks to your generous donations, our foundation was able to contribute $1 million dollars directly towards the re-building and modernization of our fire stations!
